This book is one of the founding reasons I had to create the "too-amazing-for-words" bookshelf on my Goodreads. When I finished this book I was such a whirlwind of emotions and had absolutely no idea what I was supposed to do with my life.
May have had a partial bit to do with the fact that I was severely lacking sleep and had become a zombie of sorts....
AND.. I know for a fact that my grades plummeted during the time period I was reading this which was luckily only about two days because it demanded my attention and had to be read to completion as fast as possible. I literally took this book everywhere with me and almost got it confiscated by various teachers.
But can we please just take a minute to admire the freaking cover?? It is the definition of hauntingly beautiful and just a little bit scary that it completely captures your eye. Props to Laini Taylor for creating a book that is really equally beautiful on the inside and out. I ENCOURAGE you to judge this book by it's cover because you will surely not be disappointed.
The writing was just SO WELL DONE.
The sentences and the wording was so smooth, it felt lyrical. The fell together almost like a poem and I just got so lost in it. Which also lead me to reading until 4am on a school night and being a groggy mess in the morning. THOUGH there are a A LOT of questions, and I mean A LOT, and they do not get answered quickly. There is a huge climax moment so my guess is everything is confusing so the reader has no choice but to walk in blindly to the huge moment. It's basically impossible to know what's going to happen when you not even sure what is at the present moment, so your exactly where she wants you to be.
MOST IMPORTANT THING I CAN TELL YOU IS TO JUST NOT GIVE UP ON THIS BOOK NO MATTER HOW FRUSTRATING IT GETS...
SERIOUSLY, I loaned this to a friend and every single day she came up to me and asked me what the flipping hell was going on and then she finally hit that moment and was like OMG IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. Everything will become crystal sparkingly clear... like Edward Cullen type level.
No I don't really like twilight but ^^ he was good for the use of this review. Last thing. Buy this book together with it's sequel cause you find out all the information.. and then the book ends. I was seriously searching for wherever the rest of my book went and yeah... it's over. Luckily I already had the sequel on hand, so I would recommend the same for you.
2nd Book of the Series: Days of Blood and Starlight
3rd Book of the Series and Final Installment: Dreams of Gods and Monsters
